There is the Norman Castle and Museum, whose foundations were once a Roman Temple which was burned to the ground when Queen Boudica ransacked the town in 60AD. The recently discovered unique Roman Circus and chariot racing track and much evidence all around of Colchester's Roman past. Visit the medieval ruins of St. Botolph's Priory, various Elizabethan buildings, the Dutch quarter, once home to refugee Flemmish weavers, the Victorian Park and more besides.
